Sometimes we keep watching a movie we don’t enjoy or stick with an approach that isn’t working because we’ve already invested so much time in it. Drawing on scientific research and everyday examples, this video explores how past effort shapes the decision to keep going.
The accompanying activities invite students to compare reasons for continuing, read the running scene from Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking-Glass, and interpret Winslow Homer’s The Fog Warning. Students explore different ways to use their remaining time and create a poster showing when continuing makes sense and when changing their approach might help.
